Makeup for the Gym?

Is there even such a thing? How many of you still wear makeup at the gym just in case a hot guy is lifting across from you? I'm honestly curious. Anyway, I'm about to head off to the gym and was wondering if anybody else just can't seem to go naked for the sake of sweating. I can't do it guys!

So anyway, here's my super short list of must-have products for the gym (or any active lifestyle event, I suppose):

-Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer
-Benefit's They're Real mascara
-Burt's Bees pomegranate lip balm

Laugh at me if you will, but I wouldn't go to the gym at all if it weren't for these products. I'm still a little insecure about my small blemishes and acne scars. And who could forgo mascara lest you meet someone absolutely luscious sweating next to you?

Let me know your thoughts on this somewhat taboo makeup topic!

Tiny Tip Tuesday- How to REALLY Remove Your Makeup

Hi guys! So we all know how important it is to thoroughly remove your makeup at the end of the day. But how many of us really take the time to get it all off? ... That's what I thought. Waking up with yesterday's mascara is a common occurrence on college campuses.

The tiny tip I have is to use an oil-based makeup remover BEFORE you cleanse your face. Just using a cleanser is not enough. It's important to remove your makeup and then actually clean your skin. If you're feeling lazy, you can always remove your makeup with a few swipes of a makeup removing cloth, like Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes.

But for best results, use an oil-based cleanser! Here are a couple that I really enjoy:

-Josie Maran Cleansing Oil
-MAC Cleanse Off Oil
-Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil

How To Choose the Perfect Red Lipstick

Ahh, red lipstick. What a wonderful holiday staple. And what a wonderful headache trying to find your perfect shade. I'm just going to lay down a couple of simple tips to help all you lovely ladies find your holy grail red!

When it comes to red lipstick, finding the right shade is all about the undertones:
Fair-skinned girls should go for bright, blue-reds that really pop against their skin.
Medium toned girls should go for a warm red with a brown base, like a brick red.
Dark-skinned girls should opt for something with coral woven in to accentuate their beautiful coloring.

And always, always, always use a lipliner before you put on lipstick! It doesn't have to match your lipstick exactly, but some kind of a red base all over the lips (not just on the outside) will provide long-lasting coverage and help the color fade evenly instead of splotchy.

So here are my picks for fabulously red lips in ALL seasons, not just the holidays!

Smashbox Photo Op Mega Palette

Shiny new toy! I bought this a couple of weeks ago on QVC and just had the chance to tear into it now that I'm home for winter break. It includes every eyeshadow trio that Smashbox makes, conveniently loaded into one seriously magnificent palette. I can't wait to play around with this and post some inspiring new looks!

One of my favorite qualities about this palette is how small it is. Everything folds up neatly into a flat palette.

But honestly the biggest selling point of this palette for me is the incredible value. If you were to buy all of these things from Smashbox separately, it would cost you hundreds of dollars. The quality is unsurpassed- everything is so creamy and workable. It's not one of those eyeshadow palettes where you dip your brush into a color and powder goes flying everywhere. All of the dry formulas in this kit are silky smooth and very easy to blend.

This would be a great palette for beginners, pros, or anyone inbetween! The shadows are broken up by trio so it's very user-friendly if you have no idea how to mix colors. More updates soon on different looks you can accomplish with this palette!

So here are the deets:
Cost- $95
What it comes with- 56 eyeshadows, 4 brow tech powders, 1 brow tech wax, 8 cream eyeliners, 2 blushes, 3 Soft Lights, and 4 lip glosses.
Quality- beyond amazing. everything is so creamy.
